And when the rain begins to fall,
You are my rainbow in the sky.
— Pia Zadora
I don’t like words that say good-bye,
Yet these last days are all too rare.
And even if I cannot cry
That word — I still must leave you there.
In different ways we have to go;
How foolish, how it hurts, how sad.
Do you, my darling, truly know?
Your busy thoughts leave me so mad.
If you could see me deep inside:
A grey mass, tangled, full of scars.
Then you would know, from what I hide,
I’m struck as if by falling stars.
They strike me like mute bells that toll,
Resounding through my fragile nerves.
And on my face you see a smile
Created by exhausted curves.
Unknown emotions fill my chest,
Like deadly stones from starry night.
Believe me, I don’t need the rest
When I have lost your guiding light.
If you could see me deep inside:
Grey neurons’ never-ending strain.
You’d rather wish to turn aside,
And let the parrot-world remain.
Let all be colourful around —
The merry people, vibrant life.
I beg you, darling: paint my bounds,
And make them shining, strong, and bright.
I’d want to see into your soul,
But I don’t really know the way.
Perhaps you hold delight as whole,
Like me, who faints in love’s decay.
